Favorite Fall Hikes
Whether you’ve got an afternoon for a family hike or a full day for a big climb, you’ll find a trail in Lake Tahoe. Pack a picnic and enjoy the cooler fall temps. Here are our top 3 hikes to take in autumn colors!
Sagehen Creek Trail
Distance: 4.5-mile loop
Difficulty: Easy
Just a few miles north on Highway 89, this popular trail is great for all levels and will boast vivid fall colors. Follow Sagehen Creek all the way to Stampede Reservoir and end with a jump in the lake! Great for kids, dogs, and picnics.
Mt. Rose Wilderness & Tahoe Meadows
Distance: 10 miles round trip to Mt. Rose summit
Difficulty: Easy/Hard
Mt. Rose is one of the highest peaks on the North Shore and offers spectacular views of Lake Tahoe. Explore Tahoe Meadows for a more mellow hike.
Marlette Lake & Spooner Lake
Distance: 2-mile loop around Spooner Lake/10 miles round trip to Marlette Lake
Difficulty: Easy/Intermediate
Take a scenic drive down the East Shore of Tahoe to access the trailhead. Great fall hikes to see the changing leaves of the aspens that grow in the area.

Truckee Breweries & Outdoor Beer Gardens
Alibi Ale Works – Truckee Public House
This downtown brewery offers a huge taproom plus a beer garden to enjoy the warm fall afternoons. Enjoy 20 beers on tap, plus cider, wine, and kombucha. Check their website for regular events such as Trivia and live music.
This is a local gem tucked away in the Pioneer Center. An extensive beer list is offered in an open-concept space showcasing their brewery equipment and occasional live music!
A small batch craft brewery featuring brews with ingredients foraged from the forest. The cozy taproom feels like stepping into a lush forest or sitting outside in the beer garden.

Oktoberfest

At the Village at Palisades Tahoe, this annual event transforms the area into a lively Bavarian playground. Enjoy German beer, music, Oktoberfest Games, and family fun. The entertainment includes live bands and dance troupes. Savor traditional treats like Brats, Pretzels, and apple strudel. Don't miss this cultural celebration!
Wine Walk & Shop
Saturday, October 5
11 am - 5 pm
Sip wine and sample local food tastings while enjoying shopping in historic downtown Truckee. Attendees will receive a commemorative wine glass to sample wine at 30+ venues, five food tickets, and a map of all participating venues.
Made in Tahoe Festival
Saturday & Sunday, October 12-13
11 am-5 pm
Made in Tahoe celebrates all things LOCAL. The Village at Palisades Tahoe will host a wide array of offerings that are made in or inspired by the Lake Tahoe Basin and Truckee areas: local artisans, businesses, chefs, organizations, and entertainers. Enjoy a variety of local food & beer. Admission is free.
